I don't know if anyone noticed this, but it seems the only time you farm this guy's green (a green summit axe) is during the quest. I thought that there were two bosses in the cave during the quest and so went to farm him this weekend thinking he would be the other one that wasn't part of the quest.

Evidently he is the only one listed and he only appears during the quest. Anyone one else seen this axe drop off of any other mob yet? If it doesn't drop off of any mob and if he is supposed to only appear during that quest (even though the wiki points out you don't have to kill him for the quest to complete), the it's off to farming it with people that haven't done the quest I suppose.

Any ideas on this one? Farm him with the quest and then abandon the quest maybe if he doesn't drop it so you can do it again? If so then it needs to be done with characters that haven't completed it yet. My guess is that something is maybe as it wasn't intended or someone else also drops the axe. If you can complete the quest without killing him (quest doesn't mention him specifically), then maybe he is always supposed to be there.

I dunno..

Hmm - don't know about when he is and isn't there, but I just did the quest about 2 hours ago, he was there, I killed him, and have his green

Nice axe too - gave it to Jora.

perhaps it's a granted green?

since you don't need to kill him to get the quest done most people will NOT try to kill him and killing him will always award you with his green? just a thought.

Yea i got it when i killed him during the quest. Is it possible it always drops? That would be pretty awesome

It does not always drop, I wish. I went in their twice with the quest killing him and nothing, no gold dropping, no white item nothing. Not to mention all the groups there was about 4 monks and they were healing each other, gg even with 2 interrupt ranger heroes.

Yeah it doesn't always drop (or at least didn't when I cleared the cave as things can always change). I was sure to clear the entire cave because I thought I saw two bosses and wanted to try and get their greens.

I used to have a purple stone summit axe (+14% stance) back in the day and never replaced it so I thought this would be a good replacement :-) memories.

Yeah. I just did the quest too.

It went rather fast. A couple peeps died once, but the enemies were easy if you didn't over-agro.

No green drop, though. So the only way to get his green is to do the quest repeatedly until you get it (Or just buy it.).

Hopefully they'll do something and change it a bit (maybe making him permanent instead of just during the quest or something)...

TBH you have a high enough chance for a 6-28 Stone Summit Axe dropping in EOTN. Given the low prices for Axe Grips and Zealous Hafts you should not even bother going for a stance axe.

that's a mistake in the wiki. Dvalinn has always been there for me. I've never done that quest, I don't have that quest, as a matter of fact I haven't even done the pre-req, every time I cleared Drakkar getting my rank 5 Norn, he was there. Dropped the Axe on my first kill, and never again there after. ><

Agreed, I got the axe while just farming the area for Norn points.

Ok, I think it is probably a bug then if that's the case (he was there multiple times prior to the quest). Maybe after the quest is done he is removed for some reason and never spawns again. Does Bugder show up (and the miners) prior to the quest now? Maybe that has something to do with it as well.

Summary: It sounds like he is always there up through the quest and then doesn't spawn anymore..

I just bought the axe shortly after the preview event for 5k in Kamadam. Nice skin and I don;t get why so many people hate stance weapons, I'm ALWAYS in a stance on my warrior, I'm not always above 50% health so stance works fine for me. Sundering also frustrates me - Furious is soooo much better.
